Susan A. Blair, M.S.P.T.
Susan is our Clinical Director. She has worked in the specialty of Motion Analysis since 1997 with a concentration in pediatrics. She has been involved in development and implementation of a computerized three-dimensional motion analysis-based functional capacity evaluation protocols since 2007. Research experience includes: Clinical evaluator and consultant for the Cooperative International Neuromuscular Research Group (CINRG) from 2000 to present, Clinical Coordinator and evaluator for research focused on the biomechanics associated with patella-femoral pain and medial knee arthritis and clinical evaluator for both gait and upper extremity motion analysis case studies.
Susan received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Richmond and her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Alan Blitzblau, Chief Technology Officer
With 28 years’ experience pioneering 3-D motion analysis software design and implementation, including innovative custom software and hardware applications in occupational medicine, rehabilitation, and sports, Alan provides an incomparable match of dedicated frontline experience. His career positions as Senior Analyst, Chief System Architect, R&D Director, Product Development Director and Executive Vice President of Information Technologies have been focused on the same technology development avenues and consumer-based markets targeted by BioMotion of America. He is responsible for developing 3-D applications for the Ariel Performance Analysis System and designing the ARCON/VerNova Functional Evaluation System.
Alan earned his BS in Physics and Computer Science from Brown University.
Phyllis A. Gerber, MD, Occupational Medical Director
Dr. Gerber is Board-certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. She is also an FAA Medical Examiner and is certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners and the Medical Review Officer Certification Council. Dr. Gerber attended medical school in Switzerland and completed her residency training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Gerber’s expertise in Workers Compensation, Disability Evaluation and Management, Utilization Review and Peer Review is recognized nationwide. She has developed innovative health, wellness and prevention programs for Fortune 500 companies and has held Medical Directorships with American Airlines, CIGNA/Intracorp, Humana Workers Compensation Services, The Zenith and The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and has provided consultation to U.S. Postal Services, UPS, Roadway Corporation, City of Chicago, Crown Cork and Seal, and Midway Airlines.
Adam Geril, MS, PT, DPT, OCS, ATC
Is the owner of Geril Therapy, Ocala, FL., a premier provider of outpatient orthopaedic, health and wellness services and partner with BioMotion of America in establishing the first physical therapy-based motion analysis lab in Florida. Adam has had an extensive clinical career as staff physical therapist, regional clinical coordinator and Area Administrator with HealthSouth. During his tenure with Ocala Regional Medical Center, Adam was Director of Physical Rehabilitation Services before becoming the Assistant Hospital Administrator of Outpatient Services covering a variety of clinical departments with an operating budget of $10 million dollars. His presentations have included the following topics – Pathomechanics of the Foot and Ankle and Biomechanical Analysis of Human Motion.
Bill Gilmour, Founder & CEO
Bill has a passion for people and improving the medical management of our healthcare system. Focusing in workers compensation by providing relevant and timely information and utilizing innovative objective technology solutions that will provide quality medical outcomes and reduce overall claim costs. Bill was first introduced to motion analysis by the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey while serving as the Director of Insurance and Risk Management for Ocean County. His team successfully implemented this innovative functional evaluation tool to improve medical case management. These efforts reduced workers’ compensation claim costs by $564,945 (50%), claims filed by 276 claims (47%) and lost workdays by 1,262 (70% and approximately $82, 030).
Prior to founding BioMotion, Bill was recruited by Humana Workers’ Compensation Services, to serve as Director of Insurance and Risk Management Services, then serving as Vice President of Loss Prevention Services for Protegrity Services, Inc. (formerly HWCS).
He holds an Instructors Certification from the State of Florida, Department of Insurance for Continuing Education in Risk Management and Workers Compensation. In addition, an Independent Adjusters License in Florida. Bill received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Rutgers University and was selected to be an Undergraduate Associate in the Eagleton Institute of Politics Honors Program.
Damien Howell PT, DPT, OCS
Damien is Board Certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He is Clinical Coordinator with Bon Secours Physical Therapy, Richmond, VA. Dr. Howell provides clinical support to BioMotion Labs in Richmond. He is the recipient of the Virginia Physical Therapy Association Award for Clinical Excellence and the American Physical Therapy Association Award for State Legislative Leadership. With over 35 years of experience his therapy is focused, effective, and efficient.
Many physicians and physical therapists choose Dr. Damien Howell for their own physical therapy needs and many of the physical therapists in the Richmond area were his students.
Dr. Damien Howell caters to individuals who are seeking answers and eager to learn. He values active therapy as opposed to passive therapy. He passionately looks for the cause of reoccurring injuries. The therapy provided is evidence based and patient centered.
George H. Masiello, BSEET, EVP, Engineering
George obtained his BS degree in Electrical Engineering at Farleigh Dickenson University in 1990. Following his graduation he held the position of Assistant Research Scientist, Helen Hayes Hospital Gait Analysis Laboratory,West Haverstraw, New York, from 1990 to 1991. In 1991, George assumed the position of Technical Director of the Motion Analysis Laboratory at Children’s Hospital in Richmond. During his 18 year tenure he has co-authored numerous publications, authored several software packages for data analysis, developed custom applications for processing biomechanical data in clinical gait and upper extremity evaluations, as well as supervising therapists, volunteers and student interns.
He has been a regular presenter at the Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society annual meetings since 1999. In 2004 he received an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia. In 2007 George joined BioMotion of America as Director of Engineering, while continuing in his role as technical director of the Motion Analysis La at Children’s Hospital.
Chester H. Sharps, MD, Pediatric Medical Director
Dr. Sharps served as Medical Director of the Motion Analysis Laboratory at Children’s Hospital and continues in that role with BioMotion. Additionally he serves patients through the multi-specialty services offered by Children’s Hospital. He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and specializes in cerebral palsy, deformity correction, pediatric orthopaedics and scoliosis.
Dr. Sharps received his Medical degree from Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia, PA., where he completed residencies in both General and Orthopaedic Surgery. Additionally, Dr. Sharps completed fellowship training in Pediatric Orthopaedics at the Alfred I. DuPont Institute Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. and an additional Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Shiners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. In addition to his role at Children’s Hospital, Dr. Sharps serves as Section Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics and Director of the Division of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.
Kimberly Wesdock, PT, MS, PCS
Kim currently works at the Medical College of Virginia Healthcare System. She worked in the Motion Analysis Lab at Children’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia for 14 years prior to its acquisition by BioMotion of America. Kim provides clinical support to BioMotion Labs in Richmond. She is responsible for clinical evaluation of gait and upper limb movement disorders in children and adults. She was instrumental in the development and implementation of the upper limb kinematic and multi-segmented foot models currently in use at the motion analysis lab.
Kim has three faculty appointments including one as Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatric Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University. She co-teaches a Pediatrics course for physical therapy doctoral students each year. A charter member of GCMAS, Kim has presented at the annual meeting nearly every year since 1999 and has served on the GCMAS Scientific Committee as an abstract reviewer for the annual meetings. Kim and her colleagues tied for Best Poster Award for A New Three-Segment Foot Model for Gait Analysis in Children and Adults at the Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMAS) 2001 meeting. She has been an active participant in the recent GCMAS Upper Extremity Symposium meetings. She was the Conference Chairperson for the 13th Annual GCMAS Meeting, which was held in Richmond, Virginia in April 2008.
Kim obtained her BS degree at The Pennsylvania State University and then graduated from Hahnemann University’s Physical Therapy program in 1983. She obtained a post-professional Master of Science degree in 1997 at the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She became a board-certified Pediatric Certified Specialist in 2002.
Christian Wheeler, MPT, CSCS
Christian is the founder and owner of Synergy Physical Therapy based in Colonial Heights, VA. In addition he provides clinical support to BioMotion Labs in Richmond. Prior to starting his practice he was the Manager for the Nova Care Outpatient Rehabilitation clinic in Colonial Heights. Christian has over eight years of experience in performing functional capacity evaluations. He was affiliated with the motion analysis lab at Children’s Hospital in Richmond and continued after its acquisition by BioMotion of America. With the experience gained working with motion analysis technology, he has applied the objective functional data to improving the evaluation and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
Christian holds an MPT from Old Dominion University and has been a frequent presenter on functional capacity evaluation services.

Steven Berkowitz, MD, F.A.C.S., F.A.A.O.S., C.I.M.E., A.N.N.A.
Dr. Berkowitz is currently associated with Seaview Orthopaedic and Medical Associates, Ocean, NJ. He serves as Regional Medical Director for BioMotion of America in New Jersey and is a partner. Dr. Berkowitz attended Cooper Union School of Engineering & Science and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering followed by medical school at SUNY Health Sciences Center in Brooklyn, NY, and trained in orthopaedics at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He has devoted his professional practice to shoulder problems as well as general orthopaedics. He is deeply involved in many professional and academic activities statewide including the Board of Directors/Past President of the Orthopaedic Surgeons of New Jersey/New Jersey Orthopaedic Society, the Board of Trustees of the Medical Society of New Jersey, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and is a Certified Independent Medical Examiner. He has been recognized with a listing in the Castle Connolly Guide to Find the Best Doctors in the NY Metro Area.
Necip Berme, PhD
Dr. Berme currently holds the position of Professor Emeritus in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Biomedical Engineering at The Ohio State University, where he has published extensively over the past twenty-four years. He is the founder of Bertec Corporation, a premier manufacturer of force transducers for biomechanics, medicine and industry. He is the holder of a number of patents relating to force measurement devices. Dr. Berme is the recipient of the Ralph L. Boyer award for meritorious achievement in 1984, and continues to conduct research in Stress Analysis, Mechanical Design and Orthopedic Biomechanics, with specialties in the mathematical modeling of human joints and the design of prosthetic limbs. Dr. Berme is a partner in BioMotion of America LLC.
Dan M. Robertson, Board Director
Dan has been an independent director of Alternative Market Programs for Insurance Office of America (IOA) since 2001, managing reinsurance and alternative market partnerships, creating captive insurance programs for outside clients and serving as Director and Treasurer of IOA’s Bermuda based captive insurance company. IOA is the 10th largest privately held insurance services and brokerage firm in the United States and has been rated by the National Underwriter as one of the top three domestic companies in its class. IOA has also received the Best Practices Award from the Independent Insurance Agents of America, Inc. Dan is a partner and serves as a Director of BioMotion of America, LLC, a leader in innovating functional assessment and evaluation tools through its 3D Motionprint imaging motion analysis technology to provide relevant information to physicians for improved clinical functional assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.
In 2004 Dan co-founded, and for five years operated, Southern Eagle Insurance Company, a licensed domestic workers compensation specialty company, formed to insure multiple business operations of a large Florida based enterprise, as well as third party employers. From 2002 through 2007, Dan served as a Director of ZEVEX International, an award winning publicly held medical device manufacturing firm, serving both domestic and international markets. From 1992 to 2001 Dan served as Executive Vice-President of Humana Workers Compensation Services, Inc. and President of Berkley Risk Managers, Inc., a full service insurance and risk management company within the W.R. Berkley group of insurance companies. From 1977 to 1992 Dan was named to various positions with Safeco Insurance Company and CIGNA Insurance Corporation, holding both strategic development and operations positions, culminating in being named Operations Vice-President in charge of CIGNA’s regional network of special risk claim centers.
